Athlete of The Week - Karman Choi, Hunter So., Hong Kong, China

Karman Choi

The second year swimmer helped the Hawks improve to 9-0, the best start in school history. Hunter swept the CUNYAC Regular Season with a 5-0 mark after defeating Lehman 142-94, in which Choi swam four personal bests (and four 1st place finishes). The native of Hong Kong, she swam the 200 Individual Medley (2:52.40), the 100 Butterfly (1:21.94), the 100 Individual Medley (1:16.92) and the 200 Freestyle Relay.

Rookie of The Week - Cherylle Gwizdalowski, CSI So., Staten Island, NY

A newcomer to the Dolphins, Gwizdalowsi won three events in a dual meet with Brooklyn to lock up second place in the Regular Season for the two-time defending champions. An alum of Notre Dame Academy on the Island, she won the 50 Backstroke in 36.31, the 100 Individual Medley in 1:17.03 and was on the winning 200 Medley Relay squad (2:22.70). She also came in second in the 50 Freestyle.

CUNYAC Men's Swimming - January 10, 2002

Athlete of The Week - Zafrir Kamusevitz, BROOKLYN Jr., Brooklyn, NY

A two-time CUNYAC Player of the Week, Kamusevitz, a breaststroke specialist, won two races in the Staten Island meet, while finishing in second place in the 100 Individual Medley (1:04.98). He won the 50 Breaststroke in 30.85 and the 100 meter race in 1:08.82, scoring 13 points in the meet for the Bridges. BC will finish off their CUNYAC schedule at York on January 16th.

Rookie of The Week - Alan Kok, CSI So., Staten Island, NY

Kok also earned his second Rookie award this season. The St. Peters HS grad won three events against Brooklyn: 100 Butter-fly (1:01.43), 100 Individual Medley (1:04.87) and the 50 Butterfly. He also swam in the 2nd place 200 Medley Relay squad. Beating the Bridges gives CSI the leg up on the first-ever CUNYAC Regular Season Championship.
