Athlete of The Week - Maureen McBride, Hunter Jr., Ridgefield, CT

Maureen McBride

A three-time Swimmer of the Week, McBride won five of eight races in two meets for the Hawks, who are undefeated in CUNY, last week. The 5'11 junior all-around athlete (she is also an all-star tennis player) swam a season-best 50 Breaststroke in 38.36 against Mount St. Mary. The 2000 CUNYAC Most Valuable Athlete at the Championships will look to regain that title in Saturday's championship at Lehman's APEX.

Rookie of The Week - Erin Hayes, Brooklyn Jr., Brooklyn, NY

A first-year swimmer for the Bridges, Hayes won three races in their only meet of the week, a 124-80 win over Brooklyn. Hayes won the 500 Freestyle in 8:02.88, the 200 Freestyle in 3:28.44 and the 100 Freestyle in 1:16.75.

Athlete of The Week - Manny Pantiga, Lehman So., Havana, Cuba

A two-time CUNYAC Player of the Week, Pantiga, a freestyle specialist won all six of his events in two meets for the Lightning, the 50, 100 and 200 Freestyle events. The graduate of Economics & Finance HS, who lives in the Bronx, swam personal bests in the Mt. St. Mary meet, a 23.97 in the 50, 53.72 in the 100, two events he was undefeated in all of the CUNY meets.

Rookie of The Week - Jesse Berezin, Brooklyn Fr., Springfield, MA

Also a freestyler, Berezin won all three of his races as Brooklyn beat York last week. The frosh alum of the Hebrew High School of New England won the 500 Freestyle in 7:24.41, the 100 Freestyle in 1:09.47 and the 200 Freestyle in 2:44.54, as the Bridges clinched second place going into Saturday's 1st ever CUNYAC Men's Swimming Championship.
