Women's Standings - December 10, 2001
Athlete of The Week - Maureen McBride, Hunter Jr., Ridgefield, CT
McBride has now won 27 straight dual meet
races this season and 48 dating back to last
year. Last week, she won 15 races in Hunter
's four wins . With the two league wins, the
Hawks clinch their first outright CUNY Regular
Season title (HC was co-champs two years
ago). Against CSI, the Ridgefield, CT native
swam a personal best time of 2:31.44 in the
200 Individual Medley.
Rookie of The Week - Jennifer Hansen, Brooklyn So., Brooklyn, NY
A newcomer to the Brooklyn swim team,
Hansen helped the Bridges to a win over New
Rochelle with a first place in the 200 Freestyle
(2:42.8) and a second in the 100 Freestyle
(1:07.6). The home meet was a double dual
meet with Kean and the Fort Hamilton HS grad's
times were good for first and fourth place
against the Cougars, respectively. Brooklyn will
face Staten Island and York this week.

Hunter Women Score at ECAC's
At the ECAC Championships, held in
Sewell, NJ last weekend, the Hunter
College women's 800 Meter Freestyle
Relat team of Karman Choi, Maura
Yates, Maureen McBride and Rita Tolan,
finished in 14th place. Their time of
9:58.69 put the Hawks in 18th place as
a team with six points in the event.

Men's Standings - December 10, 2001
Athlete of The Week - Manny Pantiga, Lehman So., Havana, Cuba
The team captain recorded two firsts in a
losing effort against SUNY-Maritime. The
graduate of Manhattan's Economics & Finance
HS won the 100 Butterfly in 1:06.81,
followed by a time of 28.63 in the 50 Butter-fly.
The 5'8 sophomore also finished third
in the 50 freestyle (24.56) for the Lightning.
Rookie of The Week - Omar Valerio, Lehman Fr., Santiago, Dominican Republic
Valerio, a newcomer to swimming has
steadily improved throughout the season
for the Lightning. In their only meet last
week, the freshman finished in second in
the 50 Breaststroke (37.24) and fourth in
the 100 Breaststroke (1:29.07). Both times
were personal bests.
