What has been the best part of being on the Cross Country/Track and Field teams?
Going to Nationals. It was a different experience to know that you are among the best of the best. But is also great seeing people who I ran with and against on high school. We also get to meet new people.
What do you wish to accomplish this year?
This year I plan to compete at Nationals and finish among the top three in the hurdles, both 55m and 100m.
What is your fondest memory of any season that you have run?
My first in door hurdle race; I was very scared of competing on a college level.
What do you think is your best attribute or contribution to the team?
My hard work and dedication to the sport.
What would you change about the team?
I plead the 5th.
Are you glad to be at Lehman?
Yes, of course, considering that going to college was not in my plans after high school. Lehman turned out to be a good opportunity for me.
Do you find it difficult to play a sport and attending college?
Yes, in high school everything is set for you. In college, however, you make your own decisions and believe it or not it's not all that fun. Yes, you pick your own schedule but now there is no one to force you or take you by the hand.
Do you work? How many hours a week? Where?
I do work-study about three days a week here at Lehman in the Apex. I also coach children Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Armory on 168th Street, and I work for CASA, the campus activities office here in Lehman, I am the research planner.
What are some of your future plans, academically?
I would like to be awarded with the CUNY Student Scholar-Athlete award in my senior year. And if I can't get a job with my Bachelor's Degree, I will consider graduate school.
Do you think that you will still run after college? Why?
Yes, I will still run competitively for as long as my body lets me.
Is this the only sport that you do?
No, I am also a Cheerleader.
Do you have any other hobbies?
I write poetry and am a dance instructor for PS 141.
