Here at Lehman College, I have been able to utilize my 21 years of experience as a police officer with the NYPD in the department's goal of providing a safe and secure environment.

Bolstering my police experience, I hold the following Higher Educational degrees:

bullet

Master's Degree, Public Administration

bullet

Bachelor of Science Degree, Criminal Justice

bullet

Associate's Degree, Political Science

bullet

Associate's Degree, Construction Technology

The Student Right to Know and Campus Security Act was signed into law in November 1990. Title II of this act is known as the Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act. It requires institutions participating in the student financial aid programs under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 to disclose information about campus safety and policies and procedures and to provide the statistics of certain crimes that happen on campus. Under the act, campuses must publish and distribute an annual security report to employees and current and prospective students by September 1 of each year. The report includes:

bullet

Statistics concerning the on-campus occurrence of certain offenses reported to campus security

bullet

Statements about campus law enforcement policies, campus security education and prevention programs, procedures for reporting sexual assaults, and procedures for handling reports of sexual assault

This web page is one of the ways in which Lehman College fulfills our need to keep the college community informed of vital safety and security issues. As a college in the center of an urban setting, we face many unique challenges. Our most pressing is to create an environment where the college community can exchange ideas in an open forum free from fear. To have an atmosphere that enhances the education process. This includes reducing the fear of crime. Fear of crime is a reality that we must address; in many cases, it is separate and distinct from the instances of actual crime.

Each year, we develop innovative strategies to address crime and the fear produced by crime. This web page outlines many of those programs. We must, however, involve all segments of the community if we want to make an impact. We are working diligently - and it takes time to develop a collaborative effort - but together, we will make it happen.
