MTA Art for Transit

This series of faceted glass windscreens and windows captures the essence of moments experienced by the artist, Dina Bursztyn, as she traveled the elevated tracks in the Bronx.  As commuters wait on the platform at 170th Street, they are reminded by the glass images that surround them of the magical ride on the “El” train.  Travelers can overlook small neighborhoods and see birds at eye-level.   Bursztyn brings new meaning to familiar locations by sharing her memories.  She explains, “The time is sunrise or sunset. The sky unfolds in brilliant colors—the train seems to be riding among clouds, everything is coated with a glowing halo….”
