Sixteen golden frames hold examples of various materials used in the construction of M.S. 254. Ellen and Allan Wexler's Abstractions mural asks the viewer to take notice of the beauty of the textures, shapes, and colors that are a part of their daily life at the school. Underneath each framed material is a brass plaque with a unique number that corresponds to another small plaque by the same material in use on the first floor of the building, linking the abstract with the concrete. This serves to encourage students to identify and be made aware of their surroundings in an entertaining way. More about the Percent for Art Program
