Charles To Compete At Penn Relays

Sophomore transfer Pete Charles has been chosen to compete in the Eastern College Triple Jump at the Penn Relays. Pete a native of Antigua W.I. is competing in his first colligate season at Lehman College.

“I was primarily a long jumper back home but the coaching staff at Lehman convinced me I should give the triple jump a serious try," said Charles.

In just one season at Lehman, Charles has been exceptional for the Lightning. Pete has been crowned the CUNYAC indoor champion and was a provisional qualifier for NCAA DIII nationals in all triple jump events.

Charles will get his chance on the runway at 11:00 am Saturday morning. On his opportunity to compete in one the most prestigious meets in the country, Pete is very excited about the opportunity.

“This will be my biggest meet ever," said an exhilarated Charles. "The chance to compete against some of the best jumpers in the country is an opportunity that I truly cherish."

Pete has also assaulted the Lehman College record books. In the CTC Championships at Desales University, Charles set a new Leman College record for the triple jump. Pete’s jump of 14.36 meters also moves him up the list of qualifiers for the NCAA DIII Nationals.
