Lehman To Take on #4 Scranton In NCAA Division III Tournament
Indianapolis-
The NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Committee announced today the
field of 63 teams for the 2007 championship, and Lehman College was selected
to take on national ranked University of Scranton, on Friday, March 2, 2007
in Scranton, PA.
Lehman (19-9) earned the school's first ever apperance in the tournament by defeating Baruch College 52-51 to capture the CUNY conference championship. The Lightning have a tough task at hand in the first-round, as they will take on the #4 ranked team in the nation in the University of Scranton. Scranton finished the season with a 25-2 record, and defeated Kings 79-63 to win the MACF conference championship.
"This is a great opportunity for our basketball program at Lehman College", said Lehman head coach Eric Harrison.
"To advance to the NCAA tournament, and play a prestigious program like Scranton is something that our players are looking forward to."
Lehman is in a four team bracket, with Mt. St. Mary's College taking on Hamilton College in the first game. The winners of the two games will square off on Saturday.
