Erika D. Sevall
Jaci Maurer, Director
Jaci received her BS and MS at Pace University in Elementary Education. She has worked at Lehman College Child Care Center since 2002 but has been employed by Imagine Early Learning Center (Lehman College Child Care Center managing company) since 1993. Jaci moved to New York from Montana to become a nanny in 1988 and has been working with children ever since. In her spare time she likes to read, golf and travel to Montana and Nebraska to visit family and friends.
Dawn Barton, Executive Director
Dawn earned her BA in Psychology and Business at Pace University and earned her MS in Reading at the College of New Rochelle. She has been at Lehman College Child Care Center since 1986. She has been involved with NAEYC (National Academy of the Education of Young Children) since 1990 and has functioned as a validator since 1995. Dawn is responsible for securing substantial grants, for the Lehman College Child Care Center expansion project. In her spare time, Dawn likes to travel, read and cook.
Caroline Moran, Assistant Director & Head Teacher
Caroline graduated with a BA in Psychology & Education from Geneseo College in upstate New York and has been teaching in the Early Childhood field since 1998. She received her Masterís Degree in Literacy Studies at the Childhood level at Lehman College. Caroline truly enjoys the curiosity and diversity of experiences that children bring into her classroom. In her spare time Caroline likes to read, travel and go to the movies.
Holly Saltzman, Consultant
Holly has been in the field of education for over 25 years. She earned her BA from Skidmore College and her Masters degree from Teachers College, Columbia University. In 1984 Holly joined Lou Gallousis, as a consultant, to develop Innovative Learning Centers, Inc., a childcare management firm, which began managing College Child Care Center in 1985. In October of 2000, Lou Gallousis passed away and in January of 2002, Holly started a new company, Imagine Early Learning Centers, L.L.C., the current management company of Lehman College Child Care Center.
Erika D. Sevall
Erika started as a parent peer in the peer educator program and joined the center in winter of 2007 after graduating from Lehman with her BA in Psychology with a minor in Latin American studies. Erika is currently working on her Masterís in School Counseling and Education, and enjoys helping with fundraising and other activities for the center. When not in the center Erika loves to spend time with her son and family, tend to her garden, run and dance.
Olga Spearman, Asst. Director & Head Teacher 4 Year Olds (Pre-K)
Olga has completed her BA in Sociology and minored in Early Childhood Education and finished her Masterís degree ECE in May 2009. Olga joined the child care center in the Fall of 2007 and loves participating with the children in outdoor activities. When not in the classroom Olga likes to read and spend time with her family.
Bianca Gloss, Assistant Teacher
Bianca joined the Lehman College Child Care staff in August 2005. She is also a student at Lehman College pursuing a degree in Sociology with a minor in Early Childhood Education. Working with children is her passion; she loves to watch them learn and grow and feels her role as a teacher will impact the future. In her spare time, Bianca enjoys cooking and spending time with her son.
Margaret Diaz, Assistant Teacher - 2 yr-olds
Margaret recently completed the coursework required for her Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate. She has worked with children ranging in ages from birth through 9 years old for over 18 years. Margaret enjoys spending time with her new grand-daughter and cooking. She loves to surprise her co-workers from time to time with a great Italian meal.
Rita Latchoo, Head Teacher - 2 yr-olds
Rita moved to the United States more than 16 years ago from Guyana, South America. She earned a teaching certificate in Guyana and has been working with children of all ages for over 30 years. Rita has been at Lehman College Child Care since 2003, and has worked for Imagine Early Learning Centers (Lehman College Child Care Center's managing company) since 1998. In her spare time Rita likes to read, travel, cook and spend time with her family.
Maritza Malave, Head Teacher - 2 yr-olds
Maritza completed her BA in Puerto Rican Studies with a minor in ECE at Lehman College and will complete her Masterís Degree in ECE December 2006. Maritza worked at the Child Care Center as a work study student until she was hired as an assistant teacher in 2003. In her spare time, Maritza likes to spend time with her daughter, listen to music, cook and watch TV
Rafaelina Vargas, Asst. Teacher 4 year olds
Rafaelina started out in the child care center as a work study student and joined as an assistant teacher in the summer of 2008. She completed her BA in Spanish and minored in Sociology in May of 2008, and will begin working on her Masterís degree in Early childhood education. Outside of the classroom, Ms. Rafaelina likes to travel and spend time with her family.
Elexsis Mercado, Asst. Teacher 3 Year Olds
Elexsis joined the Lehman Center in July of 2007 after working at a sister center previously. She is working on her BA in early childhood education. Elexsis likes to spend time with her two children and family when not at the center, and enjoys traveling to Puerto Rico.
Johanna Rojas, Assistant Teacher
Johanna began working at Lehman College Child Care as a work study student in 2004. She is currently working on her degree in Early Childhood Education. In her spare time, Johanna likes to cook and spend time with friends and family.
Miriam Angelo, Substitute Teacher
Miriam moved to New York 10 years ago from her native Nicaragua. She received her Bachelorís in Sociology and minored in Early Childhood Education, and will soon pursue her masterís degree as well. Miriam has been in all of the classrooms and loves to sing with the children, and especially enjoys working with the toddler age group. When not in the center Miriam likes to travel home to Nicaragua and spend time with her family.
Keyla Llorente, Head Teacher 2 year Olds
Ms. Keyla completed her student teaching in the fall of 2008 and joined us in the center as a Head teacher in the Spring of 2009. Keyla graduated with her B.A. in English and minored in Early Childhood Education and is currently working on her Masterís degree in Education Literacy. She truly loves teaching children of all ages in and outside of the classroom and enjoys singing and spending time with her family and 3 children when not here at the center.
Ana Perez, Saturday Teacher
Ana has been employed at Lehman College Child Care Center since 1987 and has experience working with children of all ages for many years. Ana enjoys spending time with her grand-daughters, cooking and working with children.
