Lehman’s English As a Second Language Program offers testing, placement, and advisement for students whose first language is not English (ESL) and who want or require intermediate or upper-level ESL courses designed to prepare them for ENG 111 and ENG 121.

You may be classified as an ESL student if:

  • Your secondary school education includes at least one year in a high school where a language other than English is the primary language of instruction.
  • Your ACT/CUNY Writing Test indicates that further evaluation is needed.

Students who need lower-level ESL classes may be referred to the CUNY Language Immersion Program (CLIP).

For further information and/or testing, please contact us.
