  • Grant LM 03001 from the National Institutes of Health (National Library of Medicine) for work on a monograph on the history of medical care in rural France, 1800-1914, 1977-1979.
  • Fellowship from the American Council of Learned Societies in support of the above project. 1977-1978. I declined this fellowship in favor of the NIH Grant.
  • Named Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Government (Ministry of Culture and Communication), decree of 2 March 1978.
