DESCRIPTION:The Lehman College and Community Band opens its 2025&amp;ndash;26 season with Harvest Gems, an eclectic program celebrating vibrant tonal colors and musical storytelling. This free concert will take place on Sunday, November 2 at 2:00 p.m. in the Lovinger Theatre on the Lehman College campus. Under the direction of Professor Alan Hollander, the program will include:  Concerto for Trombone by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, featuring soloist Doug Denniston &amp;ndash; A brilliant and expressive showcase for the trombone, blending romanticism with virtuosic flair. The Seafarer: Nautical Rhapsody by Haydn Wood &amp;ndash; A sweeping, cinematic work evoking images of open seas and maritime adventures. That Little Beast by Peter Sciaino &amp;ndash; A playful and rhythmically driving piece that brims with quirky charm and character. Graceful Ghost Rag by William Bolcom &amp;ndash; A hauntingly elegant ragtime tribute that fuses nostalgia and lyricism. Pineapple Poll Suite by Arthur Sullivan (arr. Charles Mackerras) &amp;ndash; A spirited ballet suite based on Gilbert &amp;amp; Sullivan melodies, full of wit and orchestral color. Crescent Moon by Jan Van der Roost &amp;ndash; A mystical and richly textured piece with lyrical themes and atmospheric nuances. Funiculi &amp;ndash; Funicula Rhapsody by Luigi Denza, arranged by Yo Goto &amp;ndash; A festive and energetic rhapsody based on the beloved Neapolitan tune, infused with rhythmic vitality and charm.  From seafaring journeys and whimsical beasts to rousing dances and lyrical reflections, this concert offers something for every listener &amp;mdash; whether you&amp;rsquo;re a fan of classical music, contemporary works, or simply in search of an inspiring community performance.
