DESCRIPTION:Artificial intelligence is changing how we teach, conduct research, build businesses, and get work done. The Interdisciplinary AI Conference, hosted by Lehman College's School of Business and Center for Teaching & Learning and sponsored by Verizon, brings together educators, researchers, entrepreneurs, and industry practitioners on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, in the Music Building's Faculty Dining Room. The day opens with a keynote from Provost Jorge Silva-Puras, "AI Across the Disciplines: Building Bridges Between Fields," exploring how AI is dissolving traditional academic boundaries and what genuine interdisciplinary collaboration requires. The early afternoon is reserved for faculty (bring your laptop!), with concurrent sessions in two tracks. The Teaching Track helps faculty design AI-aware assignments that uphold academic integrity, build AI literacy into courses across disciplines, and use AI to support diverse learners, featuring a cross-disciplinary faculty panel and a hands-on assessment redesign demonstration. The Research Track focuses on applying AI methods within one's own discipline while addressing ethics, reproducibility, and data governance, featuring a hands-on session by Dr. Azadeh Kievani, Dean of the School of Continuing and Professional Studies, on using AI in the literature review, along with a panel on responsible AI research. Afterwards, the conference opens to all faculty, staff, and students. An AI in Entrepreneurship Panel, moderated by Professor Andy Gold, brings together Bronx business organizations, including BxEDC and the Bronx Chamber of Commerce, to discuss how AI is reshaping the local entrepreneurial landscape. The closing Industry Panel, "AI in the Workplace," features employers sharing how their organizations use AI day to day and what it takes to be workplace-ready. 122541 Interdisciplinary, AI conference
