Robert W. Gibson

Robert Gibson was born in 1854 in Essex, England and graduated from the Royal Academy of Arts, London in 1879.  He moved to the United States in 1880 and began to practice architecture in Albany, New York in 1881, and then in New York City.  Among Gibson’s designs are the Albany Cathedral, the New York Clearing House, the New York Botanical Museum, the New York Coffee Exchange, the U.S. Trust Company building, and many banks, churches and residences.  He was a member of the American Institute of Architects and was twice president of The New York Architectural League.
