Education and Vocational Case Manager

Job Title: Education and Vocational Case Manager

The School of Continuing and Professional Studies at Lehman College is seeking an experienced Education and Vocational Case Manager to recruit and support eligible candidates living at New York City public housing sites for the HRA Pathways program.

Lehman’s HRA Pathways program supports qualified tenants living at specific New York City public housing sites in pursuing their education and career goals. The program provides education and career counseling for tenants to attend job-training or degree programs at CUNY campuses or approved non-CUNY schools. The program also provides funding for tuition, books, supplies, transportation, exam fees and professional licenses. It also provides job search support and stipends for unpaid internships.

Other Duties

Reporting to the Program Director, the Education and Vocational Case Manager will:

  • Provide educational vocational counseling to tenants in public housing sites in Queens, the Bronx and Manhattan.
  • High-touch service to a caseload of approximately 30 to 40 tenants a semester.
  • Provide outreach and recruitment through orientation sessions at housing sites, a monthly newsletter, and direct outreach to tenants and housing site staff.
  • Assess tenants' interests, employment history, education level, and abilities in order to develop appropriate education and employment plans.
  • Research specific education and training programs that align with each tenant's goals and abilities.
  • Support tenants to ensure that they successfully complete their programs of study.
  • Follow up regularly with tenants in person and by pone, email, and virtual meetings.
  • Maintain case notes and input data to document all education and employment contacts in our online platform.
  • Distribute and track MetroCards, loaner laptops, loaner MiFis, and other benefits that the program provides to tenants.
  • Communicate with external and internal partners on behalf of tenants and the program.
  • Present workshops at housing sites, with or without external vendors, that will help participants develop and reach their personal, educational and career goals.
  • Pursue and develop collaborative relationships with employers and industry experts.
  • Assist the program director and program coordinator with specialized technical support including but not limited to online workshops, databases, benefits calculators and educational technology projects.
  • Assist the School of Continuing and Professional Studies with occasional projects.

Qualifications

Full-time position with benefits, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.

Hybrid position: In-person at least 2 days a week at our main location, Hollis Gardens Apartments, at 203-04 Hollis Avenue, St. Albans NY. Occasional additional days on-site at other public housing sites or Lehman College. The remainder of the work week will be remote.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with underserved populations.
  • Education and vocational case management experience.
  • An interest in the complexities faced by adult learners receiving public assistance, and the willingness to assist them in working through multiple barriers to enroll in and complete education programs and/or find employment.
  • Flexibility in work location including two days a week in Hollis, Queens.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Good basic technology skills including email, phone, text and virtual meetings.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bilingual (especially Spanish).
  • Experience working in the higher education field.
  • Reliable transportation

Position is grant funded until July 2025 with option of renewal.

Accounting/ Tax Continuing Education Teacher and Coordinator

Job Title: Accounting/ Tax Continuing Education Teacher and Coordinator
Category: Continuing Education Teacher (CET)

Status: Part-Time Hourly

Teaching

  • Part-time evening courses in accounting and tax preparation
  • Upskilling adults looking to start a career in accounting or finance

Program and Curriculum Development

  • Plan and develop Accounting and Tax Preparer courses.
  • Research/keep track of offerings in the subject area by other colleges (CUNY and other) to
    evaluate opportunities for growth and expansion.
  • Documenting curriculum, maintaining current syllabi for each course and managing program
    accrediting, if applicable.
  • Collaborate with CE Director on course pricing and profitability (including enrollment targets and
    breakeven).
  • Select textbooks, e-materials and/or manuals and communicate information to registrar.
  • Schedule each semester’s classes and submit to registrar by catalog deadline.
  • Monitor and maintain program and course descriptions for accuracy.

Instructional Quality and Integrity

  • Ensure instructional quality though class observations, student evaluations and syllabi review.
  • Assign teachers to all scheduled classes and communicate teaching assignments, contact
    information and rates to CE finance manager to ensure accurate and timely payroll.
  • Hire and supervise teachers in collaboration with CE Director.
  • Provide orientation and onboarding to new teachers.
  • Responsible for instructors’ timely submission of zoom links/room assignment, syllabi,
    attendance, grades and student evaluations to registrar.
  • Observe teachers, complete a faculty observation form, submit it to the CE Director.

Student Support

  • Lead marketing and orientation sessions each semester.
  • Respond to student inquires and provide student support.
  • Advise students as necessary.
  • Troubleshoot student concerns and inform CE director of student complaints.
  • Track program outcomes such as exam pass rates, student evaluations, etc.

Requirements

  1. At least 5 years' experience in accounting/tax field
  2. CPA or equivalent experience
  3. Expert in tax and accounting software
  4. Adult teaching experience
  5. Bachelor’s degree or higher
  6. Superior digital skills
  7. Ability to teach online effectively
  8. Passion for working with non-traditional adult population in the Bronx
  9. Flexible schedule, nights and weekend, approximately 6-10 hours per week, hybrid.

Compensation

Instructional time paid $45-$50 per hour. Curriculum development is paid per project. Additional compensation for coordination is available as profit share. Can range from $2,000-$4,000+ per semester depending on program size. All compensation is paid as W2 employee at a part-time hourly rate.

Swimming Coordinator/Lehman College Continuing Education

Job Title: CE Swimming Coordinator

The Continuing Education Swimming Coordinator manages a tuition-based community swimming program at Lehman College in the Bronx serving 150-200 adult students per semester. We are looking for a part-time coordinator to help us grow the program.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Swimming Staff Recruitment and Management
• Recruit new staff and lifeguards needed to staff Swimming Program
• Collect and maintain records of staff and lifeguard credentials
• Implement instructor and lifeguard hiring process to meet hiring deadlines
• Train new staff on swim program process and procedures
• Facilitate administrative training of new teachers, including CE procedures regarding payroll
(time sheets), student attendance, grade reports, general CUNY and Lehman policies related to
student and faculty behavior, etc.
• Ensure all staff have campus clearance to access APEX before classes start
• Monitor staff compliance with APEX and CE protocol
• Observe faculty swim lesson within first month of onboarding
• Manage swimming staff schedule and substitutions
Student Support
• Lead student online orientation each semester
• Communicate students' covid requirements to access APEX facility to perspective students.
• Ensure all students complete digital student swim waiver
• Collaborate with registrar & LVA (Location Vaccine Authority) to ensure students receive CUNY
Access Pass before classes start
• Troubleshooting student concerns during course

Administrative Support
• Liaison with APEX Aquatics Director on schedule and policy matters
• Liaison with Registrar and Director on course operations and enrollment matters.
• Schedule classes each semester to meet community demand and participate in bi-annual
program reviews
• Monitor website and brochure to ensure courses are published correctly for the public
• Manage course enrollment and staffing in system database

REQUIREMENTS
• American Red Cross - WSI or equivalent swimming instructor certification
• American Red Cross CPR or equivalent certification
• At least 5 years' experience providing swimming lessons of all levels
• Excellent computer and administrative skills (MS Office 365 and Zoom Skills a plus).
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills
• Hybrid position

Must meet CUNY COVID Requirements to access campus and pool located at 250
Bedford Park Blvd West, Bronx NY

Must have stable internet and device to perform remote administrative tasks

Must have Evening/ Weekend availability to support classes and staff

Compensation
Instructional time is paid $40.66 per hour. Additional compensation for coordination is available as a profit share. It can range from $2,000-$4,000+ per semester, depending on program size. All compensation is paid as a W2 employee at a part-time hourly rate.
