Certified Nursing Assistant
Class uses state-of-the-art SIM Lab. A New York State Education Department-approved training for those seeking employment as CNAs in hospitals, nursing homes, hospices and home health agencies. Students must successfully complete the course and clinical to be eligible to take the New York State credentialing examination. CNAs work directly with patients and their families providing quality patient care. Duties include: help with dressing; bathing; feeding; toileting; taking vital signs; catheter care; assisting with ambulation; range of motion exercises; and moving patients to bed and from bed to wheelchair. Program includes: Anatomy and Physiology (50 hours), Fundamentals of Patient Care (50 hours), Nursing Home Clinical Rotation (30 hours). (Prerequisites: must attend a career session / orientation- Required prior to clinical CPR100: CPR for Health Care Providers or current national certification from the American Heart Association (AHA.) Completed program application with proof of high school/GED/TASC completion and short essay required. Must demonstrate fluency in English, a reading test may be given. Completed physical exam documentation is due at the 1st class meeting. *NOTE: $115 required testing fee to be paid in class; uniform and textbook fee not included. Prerequisite or corequisite: CPR100
