Medical Biller & Coder Certificate Program Online
Become a medical biller or coder with this online class at Lehman College in the Bronx. Medical billers and coders play an essential role in multiple healthcare settings: physician's offices, ambulatory surgery centers, diagnostic centers and labs, clinics, and more. AAPC approved curriculum prepares students for the Certified Professional Biller (CPB ™) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC ™) exam. Certified billers and coders with certification earn approximately $60,097 per year, 27% more than their non-certified colleagues.
PREREQUISITES
> High School diploma or equivalency.
> Program is taught 100% live online. Computer skills are required.
CERTIFICATION
You must complete all required courses listed with a grade of C or better to earn a Lehman Certificate. To request your Lehman Certificate, please email ce@lehman.cuny.edu with “Certificate Request” as the subject line.

Q: I already have experience in medical billing and coding. Where should I start?
A: You may request an equivalency exam to waive Medical Terminology Parts 1 and 2. If you pass the equivalency exam, you will meet the prerequisite for either Medical Billing & Insurance, Part 1 or Medical Coding, Part 1.
Q: Is an AAPC certification worth it for medical billing and coding jobs?
A: Yes, AAPC certification can be very valuable for several reasons:

Q: How long and how much is the program?
A. You will take classes up to twice a week for 18 months to complete both certifications. The tuition for the entire program is $6,320 which includes AAPC membership and two AAPC test attempts for both the Certified Professional Biller and Certified Professional Coder certification exams. Tuition does not include books or registration fees.
