Student Disability Services and Online Accommodations

Student Disability Services (SDS) at Lehman College has compiled several processes and materials to help prepare you on your role and expectations as a faculty member in making content accessible and providing accommodations, when requested. It is encouraged to review the processes and procedures in place for students, as well as yourself, to better understand your role in making a more equitable learning environment for all of your students. Visit their Contact Us page for the SDS email address, campus location, and to book an appointment.

Student Disability Services (SDS) has provided a statement that can be included in your syllabus.

This section of the Student Disability Service’s (SDS) website explains the various hardware and software technologies and capabilities available to both you and students. Please feel free to connect with the Access and Technology Specialist, Pedro Laureano for additional information on how you can better support your students.

Student Disability Services (SDS) has outlined the testing accommodation process you must follow, after a student has completed/submitted the Testing Accommodation Request form. The attached form is what students will need to complete but it is useful for you to have an understanding of what they need to complete.

Onsight Proctoring: When proctoring occurs for students with private testing accommodations, the testing will be held either in Shuster 238 or Library 146 when held in person. The proctors aren’t directly in the testing room; they watch outside via cameras.

Online Proctoring: When online proctoring occurs, the proctor just sits on video as well as the student.

Student Disability Services (SDS) details the process and expectations for those students who are eligible for note taking services. Please review the information detailed from SDS, as you may be requested to participate in the procurement of a peer notetaker.

Student Disability Services (SDS) has outlined many of the most common questions and answers on their web page. Please take a look through the most common questions they get and feel free to reach out to the department with additional questions/concerns.
