1.2 Create a focused Freshman Year Initiative credit bearing seminar that incorporates the values of Herbert H. Lehman. Academic Deans, VP Student Affairs, Director of Academic Advising, FYI Director Fall 2005

Appoint a Committee in Spring 2006 with representation from each of the academic divisions, the division of enrollment management, and the division of student affairs, as well as representatives from CAEAS and the Senate Undergraduate Curriculum Committee to assess and revise as necessary the curriculum of the LEH 100 credit-bearing Freshman Seminar Course and to determine if, and if so, how the course will incorporate the values of Herbert H. Lehman.

1.5 Broaden experiential learning opportunities for students

Institutionalize "Campus as your Classroom" initiative for first semester freshman.

Encourage and support faculty and staff service to the college in the role as advisor to student organizations.

Support the development of department/discipline based student organizations.

Ensure that all campus events are listed on the college website

Create opportunities for collaboration across departments and Divisions to develop and promote activities

Encourage student participation in the Senate and college committees through enhanced outreach efforts

Create mechanisms to target e-mail communication to different student populations.

Review range of activities (lectures, films theatre, social activities etc) available to students. Identify programs and activities which relate most closely to the interests

Identify appropriate additional roles for alumni in the life of the campus

Growth in number of student department/discipline-based organizations.

Special outreach made to undergraduates with minimum 3.0 GPA’s to encourage involvement in campus governance through participation in Student Conference.

New content management system for the College’s website has been identified. Implementation will begin in the Fall 2006. New system will improve current process of posting campus events on the college website New personal development mini-lab opened in the Counseling Center for the Fall 2005

FT Health Educator position filled in the Student Health Center

Vision screening services provided by ophthalmologist in the Student Health Center for Fall 2005

Peer Health Educators recruited and trained Outreach to L.C. community regarding campus events and activities via new e-mail system to begin in Fall 2005

1.7 Renew campus-wide endeavors to create a caring campus environment. Expand opportunities for orientation of full time faculty and staff. Provide opportunities for part-time faculty and staff to fully access the services of the college.
