Goal 7: Institutionalize a fundraising program that provides a steady stream of revenue for Lehman College that increases at a minimum of 10% per year.

Direct mail programs several times a year to alumni and other constituents.  Maintain and enrich database of alumnus and other constituents.

Increase number of alumni participating and the amount of giving by 10%.

Hiring outside telemarketing company to do calls.  Direct mail will go out in spring.

All publications have BRE/vehicle of sending a gift to LC by mail. On target to increase number of alumni donors by 25%.

March 2006

Begin planned giving program with CUNY in an organized direct mail program.

Identify and work with individuals who are putting Lehman College Foundation into their estate plans.

Cultivate donors for planning giving possibilities

University wide needs assessment completed.

Future Funds (contracted by CUNY) will send a mass mailing on LCF letterhead. Prospects identified.

Identify, cultivate, and solicit donors for larger/major gifts.

Increase the number of individuals in top donor recognition societies.

Development team members working with major gift prospects.

Faculty and staff have been involved in all fundraising activities.

Schedule revitalized Lehman Leadership Awards Dinner and other special activities

Board program and nominating committee will use greater outreach to recruit leadership and participation in Leadership Dinner.

Held successful Gala in October 2005.

Regular contact with prospective new Board members. Prospect management occurring through systematic and regular meetings and contacts (e.g. personal calls, visits, community events). 

On course to meet 2006 - $605,000 target.

7.2   Plan comprehensive fundraising campaign. Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Lehman College Foundation

June 2005 – June 2006

Create a Campaign planning group (comprised of LCF Board members and internal people). Refine the case for support.

Develop the campaign structure, identify and recruit campaign leadership.

Create naming opportunities for facilities and scholarships.

Work on lead gift (s) for the campaign.

Be ready to announce campaign in Fall 2006.

The CUNY Campaign Office is providing external support for the development of the campaign.

Campaign Planning Group has met twice.

Campaign planning group has begun to put together campaign structure.

Tested case for support. Scholarships for students are favorable by prospects as top priority for their philanthropy..
7.3  Initiate leadership and major gifts phase of the comprehensive campaign. Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Lehman College Foundation June 2006 – June 2008

Transition the Campaign Planning Group into the Campaign structure (based on facilities, scholarships, and faculty support).

Research and evaluate campaign prospects.

Solicit gifts payable over multi-year period.

Provide ongoing follow-up and stewardship of campaign contributions. 

Maintain consistent communication with LCF board members and other key constituents, provide appropriate donor recognition.
Announce campaign goal once some leadership gifts are secured. Working on leadership gifts, campaign structure, recruitment of leaders and named gift opportunities.
