Amy White

Faculty Profile

Amy S. White is an Assistant Professor and Program Director at Lehman College. Prior to teaching at Lehman, Dr. White’s professional background includes working in environmental health (Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry), as a health economist for the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry, and teaching about health and wellness and the US health care system at other local colleges.

Her line of inquiry is concerned with access to health insurance and maintaining care continuity when individuals change health insurance, like from Medicaid to private health insurance. Dr. White is a primary investigator on a CMS grant studying local access to mental health and substance abuse treatment. Dr. White has published extensively in the field of outcome research on cost of treatment for illnesses such as depression, allergic rhinitis, and other diseases.

She received her Bachelor’s from Brown University, her Masters from the Harvard School of Public Health, and her EdD from A.T. Still University.

Dr. White is the co-chair of Lehman’s Interprofessional Education (IPE) Council. Along with a colleague in Social Work, we schedule three events every academic year to bring together students from across the health science disciplines (ie, nursing, speech language pathology, health education, dietetics, etc) to work case studies, listen to interdisciplinary teams describe collaboration in working complex cases, and simulation events. Dr. White created a class on IPE and is active in curricular development and plays the viola with Lehman's Community Orchestra.
