Suresh Lama Tamang

Suresh Lama-Tamang, Ph.D., is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and LPC Supervisor in Virginia, and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Florida, with nearly a decade of experience in clinical mental health counseling. His approach to teaching is rooted in androgogial philosophy and skillful curiosity, collaboration, and application. He believes learning is relational and that some of the most meaningful learning occurs when students feel supported and encouraged to question, reflect, challenge ideas, and engage creatively with one another. His teaching style is largely Socratic and discussion-based, with an emphasis on connecting course material to students’ developing clinical identities. Beyond teaching counseling- related content, Suresh hopes to create a learning experience that encourages greater self-awareness, clarifies personal and professional values, and helps students discover the kind of counselors they hope to become. He views both counseling and education as opportunities not only to gain knowledge, but also to cultivate wisdom, curiosity, and meaningful human connection.
