Rafael Gonzalez

Academic Leadership & Research

Rafael Gonzalez is a dedicated mathematician and academic leader centered on expanding educational access at Lehman College, CUNY. Having earned both his BA and MA in Mathematics from Lehman, Rafael now works to dismantle the barriers he faced growing up in the Bronx with limited resources.

As an Academic Advisor for the Department of Mathematics and the Director of the Mathematics and Statistics Student Success Center, Rafael provides critical support to a diverse student population, specializing in guidance for non-traditional and minority scholars. His leadership extends to major grant-funded initiatives; as Project Coordinator for the NSF S-STEM Program, he managed mentorship for high-achieving, low-income students.

In addition to his administrative impact, Rafael is a published researcher in the Ramanujan Journal. Currently pursuing an MA in Statistics at Columbia University, he continues to use his foundation at Lehman to advocate for a more equitable future in STEM.
