Biography

Tasha Darbes, PhD, is Assistant Professor of TESOL in the Department of Middle and High School Education at Lehman College, the City University of New York (CUNY). She is currently the Principal Investigator for a Spencer Foundation–funded Participatory Action Research project investigating the impacts of commodified literacy instruction on multilingual learners and their teachers.

Her research interests include the intersections of immigration, education, and multilingualism. Dr. Darbes also engages in educational and digital humanities projects including oral histories of the climate crisis, media labs for immigrant youth, and was a co-producer of a documentary on undocumented youth in higher education, Admissions.
