As a result of the Carmen Hall renovation reducing available classroom space, instructors are being asked to rethink how and where teaching happens. This workshop series is designed to turn that constraint into an opportunity, helping instructors explore practical, pedagogically sound approaches to blended, hybrid, and online course design. Whether you're facing a full move online or restructuring around reduced in-person time, these sessions are built to help you make deliberate, student-centered choices, turning a scheduling challenge into a chance to strengthen how your course engages learners.
This session explores practical strategies for designing hybrid and flipped courses that meaningfully integrate online and in-person learning and will examine how to scaffold learning across modalities, prepare students for success, establish clear expectations and accountability measures, and maximize valuable in-person time. Participants will also consider which course materials and activities are best suited for asynchronous, synchronous online, and face-to-face learning while exploring relevant Brightspace and Zoom tools.
