LBGTQIA+ Mental Health: Every Mind Matters Creating Supportive, Inclusive Environments for Wellbeing
What is LGBTQIA+ Mental Health?
Mental health affects everyone — but it doesn’t look the same for everyone. For many LGBTQIA+ individuals, higher rates of stress, anxiety, and depression are often tied to lived experiences rather than identity itself. Stigma, lack of support, and the ongoing pressure to hide or monitor how much of oneself feels safe to share can create real emotional strain over time.
Quick Self-Check
  • Do I create space for others to speak without fear of judgment or exclusion?
  • Am I mindful of assumptions I make about people’s identities or relationships?
  • Does our workplace culture help people feel they belong — not just that they’re tolerated?
  • Do I know where to direct someone who may need mental health support?
Remember, you don’t have to manage stress alone-resources like the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) are available to support you every step of the way.

Stress Awareness Month

Stress Awareness Month is an opportunity to pause, reflect, and prioritize your well-being. Managing stress starts with small, intentional steps-whether it’s taking a break, connecting with others, or seeking support when needed. Remember, you don’t have to manage stress alone-resources like the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) are available to support you every step of the way.

Notable Changes

Effective Jan 1, 2026, the current GHI CBP/Anthem BlueCross BlueShield plan will be replaced by the new NYCE PPO plan, administered jointly by EmblemHealth and UnitedHealthcare.  Most plan features and costs will remain the same, but the provider network will expand, giving employees and their dependents access to a broader range of in-network healthcare providers.

If you are currently enrolled in GHI CBP/Anthem, you do not need to take any action to continue your coverage. Your enrollment will automatically transfer to the NYCE PPO plan with no gap in coverage unless you choose a different plan during the Annual Fall Transfer Period.

For more information, including FAQs and provider lookups, visit the NYCE PPO website or call (212) 501-4444.
