Is your Course Content Accessible for EVERY Student?

As educators, we strive to create learning environments that are engaging, inclusive, and accessible for all students. Blackboard Ally is a powerful tool that helps us achieve these goals by improving the accessibility of our course materials and supporting a diverse range of learning needs.

Accessibility is not just about compliance. It removes barriers to learning and gives every student an equitable opportunity to succeed. Whether students use assistive technologies, learn on mobile devices, manage temporary disabilities, or simply benefit from more flexible formats, Ally helps ensure your course content is available in ways that meet their individual needs. In our workshop session, we will explore how Blackboard Ally evaluates course content, identifies accessibility concerns, and provides practical guidance for improving documents, presentations, PDFs, and other instructional materials. We will also examine the alternate formats automatically generated by Ally, such as audio, electronic braille, immersive reader, and tagged PDF versions, which can enhance the learning experience for all students.

Our goal is not to become accessibility experts overnight, but rather to develop effective practices that make our courses more welcoming, usable, and supportive for every learner. Please join us on Thursday, October 8^th from 2-3 PM and learn all about Blackboard Ally! Bring your questions too!

VoiceThread Workshop Announcement

Create More Student Engagement in your Classes with VoiceThread

Getting students engaged in classwork can be daunting. VoiceThread to the rescue! VoiceThread is an interactive collaboration and presentation tool used to upload, share, and discuss rich media through asynchronous audio, video, and text comments. Think of a Discussion Topic with audio and video. You can upload a PowerPoint presentation to VoiceThread and voice over the presentation and ask students to react to your presentation and their reactions are shared with the class. Spice up your discussion topics with audio and video and the students can join the conversation. Creating student engagement is easy and fun with VoiceThread.
