How to Add New Student Email to iPad iMac

Before You Begin

If you do not have the Microsoft Authenticator App, download and install it on your device from the AppStore or Google PlayStore.
Note: The student email requires a Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) method such as Microsoft Authenticator App, a different authenticator app, or phone. Also, if you would like to continue using the Microsoft Authenticator App or a different authenticator app, we recommend that the student email is set up first on another device other than your personal phone.
If you do not already have the Microsoft Outlook app, download and install it on your mobile device from the AppStore or Google PlayStore.

In your Outlook desktop app, in the top left-hand section, under your previous lc.cuny.edu email, click on the Add Account icon. Your old LC account, firstname.lastname@lc.cuny.edu

Important Note for Students with a Previous LC Email Account:
Your previous firstname.lastname@lc.cuny.edu student email account has been retired. If this old LC student email account was previously configured on your device, you MUST remove it before proceeding. Learn more here.

STEP 3

The Add Account screen will appear. Enter your CUNY login account. firstname.lastname##@login.cuny.edu. Click on Add Account button.

STEP 4

The CUNY Login screen will appear. Enter your CUNY Login credentials again and the corresponding password (firstname.lastname##) and then click Log in.

Note: On the CUNY Login page, the “@login.cuny.edu” is optional.

STEP 5

The “Let’s keep your account secure” screen appears. Click Next.

Note: If you are not seeing the screen below, (example: the MS authenticator page will appear or you are asked to enter the codes), please join the LehmanQ so a Service Desk representative can help you reset your email MFA and finish setting up your new student email account.

STEP 7

The Install Microsoft Authenticator screen appears.

There are three options:

Install Microsoft Authenticator
Set up a different authenticator app, and
Set up a different way to sign in. For this example, we will go with Option #1 Install Microsoft Authenticator.

Click Next.

The Now pair Authenticator with your account screen appears. You will use your mobile device and come back to this.

STEP 8

On your mobile device

Open the Microsoft Authenticator app. At the top right, click on the + icon.
Click on work or school account.
Click on Scan QR code.

STEP 9

Go back to your iPad or iMac, click Next.

STEP 10

The Scan the QR code to add your account screen appears. We will now use your mobile device and come back here to continue shortly.

STEP 11

On your mobile device

Open the Microsoft Authenticator app.
Tap the QR code button in the bottom right corner.
Scan this QR code with the camera.
When you have added your account, go back to your iPad or iMac.

STEP 12

On the Scan the QR code to add your account screen, click Next.

The Let’s try it out screen appears.

STEP 14

On your mobile device, the Microsoft Authenticator app will pop up, enter the number shown (Ex. 91). Go back to your iPad or iMac.

The Authenticator Added screen appears. Click Done.

Your student email is now set-up and ready to be used.

Important Note: Your newly added email account appears as your CUNY Login username, firstname.lastnameXX@login.cuny.edu. However, when you create a new message, your student email address, firstname.lastname##@stu-mail.lehman.cuny.edu, will be displayed as the sender address.

STEP 17

NOTE: You will always have to sign in with your CUNY credentials (firstname.lastname##@login.cuny.edu) no matter what your campus email is set as. You will receive all emails from all your associated emails to this CUNY Login mailbox.

How to Add Your New Student Email to the Outlook Desktop App (iPad/iMac)

STEP 1
