Lehman Celebrates Historic Housing Milestone
CUNY and College leadership, Bronx elected officials, and members of the Lehman community cut the ribbon at the Lehman Grand.

At a historic grand opening on Wednesday, Lehman College and CUNY leadership, elected officials, and members of the Lehman community gathered to celebrate the ribbon cutting for The Lehman Grand, the College’s first student dormitory. Students will begin moving in later this month, in time for the Fall 2026 semester.
The new dorm adds much-needed student housing with apartment-style living for more than 180 residents. Developed by MADDD Equities, the dorm is located in the newly renovated, landmarked Dollar Savings Bank, a 1933 Art Deco building on the Grand Concourse at Fordham Road.
“Our students deserve nothing but the best, and The Lehman Grand gives them an affordable, convenient, and beautiful option to help them reach their graduation goals,” said Lehman President Fernando Delgado.
Joining Delgado at the podium were CUNY Chancellor Felix V. Matos-Rodríguez, State Senator Gustavo Rivera, Assemblymembers Yudelka Tapia and George Alvarez, Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson, and Jorge Madruga, principal of MADDD Equities.
“CUNY aims to be the most student-centric university in the country, and developing facilities like The Lehman Grand is part of that journey,” said Chancellor Matos-Rodríguez.
With more than 180 beds and sweeping views of the Bronx and Manhattan, The Lehman Grand offers a modern, fully accessible living experience designed to support students’ academic and social development. The dorm occupies the Dollar Savings Bank’s 10-story office tower, topped by the signature clock, visible across the borough.
By repurposing the long-vacant building into a thriving learning-living community, MADDD Equities is helping transform the Fordham section of the Grand Concourse, which includes a Fine Fare supermarket, a soon-to-open healthcare complex, and just across the street, Lehman’s satellite campus, CUNY on the Concourse.
