Lorelys Alvarez and Joseph Fernandez, both students in the Lehman College School of Business, have each received scholarships from ALPFA (Association of Latino Professionals for America). The awards were announced at ALPFA’s annual convention in Charlotte, N.C.

“I am incredibly grateful and honored to have been selected as an ALPFA National Scholarship recipient,” Fernandez said. “As a first-generation college student, opportunities like this motivate me to keep pushing toward my goals. ALPFA has played an important role in my personal and professional growth, and I am thankful for the continued support and opportunities it has given me.”

With awards ranging from $2,500 to $10,000, the scholarship program reflects ALPFA’s commitment to expanding access to higher education and professional opportunities for aspiring professionals across a range of industries.

“Receiving this scholarship doesn’t just mean I’ll be able to continue pursuing my education,” Alvarez said. “I want it to inspire other students to take charge of their careers and not limit themselves because of where they come from. We all have a seat at the table.”

In addition, four Lehman School of Business students—Charvay Lyons, Jamie Bonilla-Meza, Gabriel Pacheco, and Eric Leon—received ALPFA NY scholarships covering their attendance at the convention.

Through its nationwide network of more than 240,000 professionals and students, ALPFA provides leadership development, career opportunities, mentorship, and community while advancing representation across industries.
