Biography

Dr. Yunju Ku is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Accounting at the School of Business, Lehman College, CUNY. She earned her Ph.D. in Accounting at Rutgers Business School, an M.S. in Business Administration from Yonsei University, and a B.S. in Political Science and Business Administration (summa cum laude) from Sogang University. She is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Washington State.

Dr. Ku’s research examines how financial reporting and disclosure shape capital markets and corporate decision-making. Her research interests include financial disclosure, ESG and climate-related information, human capital, corporate governance, and capital markets. Her work focuses particularly on how information about firms’ environmental and human capital affects investors’ perceptions and how disclosure regulations and institutional investors influence firms’ real economic decisions.

Prior to joining academia, Dr. Ku worked as a fair value specialist, providing valuations of complex financial assets — including hybrid securities and alternative investment funds — for institutional clients such as Korea's National Pension Service, at Korea Investors Service Pricing (a Moody's affiliate).

At Lehman College, Dr. Ku teaches accounting and is committed to helping students develop strong analytical foundations while understanding the role of accounting information in business and financial markets. She brings both academic research and professional experience as a CPA to her teaching.

Outside of research and teaching, she enjoys hiking, Pilates and spending time with family and friends.
