Getting Started

Students have 2 accounts: their CUNY account and their Lehman account.

Claim your CUNY account on the CUNY Log in page.

Claim your Lehman Account on the Lehman Login Account Manager.

Your username is: yourfirstname.lastname##@login.cuny.edu. (ex. Mulan.Fa08@login.cuny.edu)

Your new student email address is now in this format: firstname.lastname##@stu-mail.lehman.cuny.edu.

Registering for classes gives you access to your school email, Brightspace, Lehman360, etc. Doing so also allows you to claim your Lehman account, which gives you access to campus Wi-Fi, Printers and computers.

Files, Storage & Security

TBD...

We are sometimes able to retrieve lost/corrupted data. Please contact the Help Desk via Lehman Q to discuss the possibilities.

  1. Use MFA everywhere it is available. Lehman has separate MFA protections for CUNY Login and Microsoft 365/Outlook/Teams. Setting up one does not automatically set up the other.
  2. Never approve an MFA request you didn’t initiate. If you receive an unexpected Microsoft Authenticator prompt, deny it. Lehman specifically warns not to share your password or MFA code—even with someone claiming to be IT.
  3. Use a unique Lehman password. Don’t reuse your Lehman password on Gmail, banking, social media, or other websites. Lehman’s guidelines also recommend changing it if you think someone may have discovered it.
  4. Be careful with emails. Don’t click on unexpected links or attachments, especially messages asking for passwords, MFA codes, Social Security numbers, or other sensitive information. Lehman asks users to report suspicious emails to spam@lehman.cuny.edu.
  5. Keep work data in approved Lehman/CUNY systems. Don’t move student or confidential college information to your personal Gmail, iCloud, personal Dropbox/Google Drive, USB drives, or other unsecured platforms. Lehman’s guidance specifically says to avoid personal accounts or unsecured platforms for student data.
  6. Lock your computer whenever you step away, even briefly—especially if you’re working at the Help Desk or handling users’ information.
  7. Don’t save passwords in the browser. Lehman recommends using an encrypted password manager rather than browser password storage.
  8. If you suspect your account was compromised: change your password immediately, don’t approve unexpected MFA requests, and contact Lehman IT through the official support channels. Lehman Q and Carman Hall, Room 108.
