Editorial Process
The Lehman College Journal of Business and Technology is committed to maintaining a transparent, rigorous, and fair editorial process to ensure the publication of high-quality research. The following outlines the key stages of our editorial process from submission to publication.
- Submission
- Online Submission: Authors submit their manuscripts through the journal’s online submission system [Insert Submission Portal Link]. During submission, authors provide relevant information about the manuscript, including author details, abstract, keywords, and cover letter.
- Initial Submission Check: Once submitted, the manuscript undergoes an initial check by the editorial office to ensure it meets the basic submission requirements, including formatting, word count, and adherence to the journal’s aims and scope.
- Initial Editorial Screening
- Relevance and Quality Check: The Editor-in-Chief or a designated Associate Editor conducts an initial evaluation to assess the manuscript’s relevance to the journal’s scope and its potential contribution to the field. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be desk-rejected at this stage, with constructive feedback provided to the authors.
- Plagiarism Check: Manuscripts passing the initial screening are subjected to plagiarism detection software to ensure the originality of the content. Any issues related to plagiarism or unethical practices are addressed before proceeding to peer review.
- Peer Review
- Assignment of Reviewers: Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to at least two independent experts in the relevant field for a double-blind peer review. The identities of both the authors and reviewers are kept confidential to ensure an unbiased review process.
- Review Process: Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on its originality, methodological rigor, clarity, significance of the research, and relevance to the journal’s readership. They provide detailed feedback and recommendations for the manuscript’s acceptance, revision, or rejection.
- Reviewer Reports: Reviewers submit their reports within a specified timeframe, typically 4-6 weeks. The editorial team may seek additional reviews if necessary to reach a decision.
- Editorial Decision
- Decision Making: Based on the reviewers’ feedback, the Editor-in-Chief or Associate Editor makes a decision on the manuscript. Possible decisions include:
- Accept: The manuscript is accepted as is or with minor revisions.
- Revise: The authors are requested to make major or minor revisions based on the reviewers’ feedback.
- Reject: The manuscript is not suitable for publication in its current form. Authors may be invited to resubmit after substantial revisions or submit to another journal.
- Communication with Authors: The decision, along with reviewer comments, is communicated to the corresponding author. If revisions are required, the authors are given a deadline to resubmit their revised manuscript.
- Decision Making: Based on the reviewers’ feedback, the Editor-in-Chief or Associate Editor makes a decision on the manuscript. Possible decisions include:
- Revision and Resubmission
- Author Revisions: Authors revise their manuscripts in response to reviewer and editor comments. A detailed response to the reviewers’ comments should be submitted alongside the revised manuscript, explaining how each point has been addressed.
- Second Review: Revised manuscripts may be sent back to the original reviewers for a second round of review, or the editors may make a decision based on the revised version. This process continues until the manuscript meets the journal’s standards for publication.
- Final Acceptance and Copyediting
- Final Acceptance: Once the manuscript has been revised to the satisfaction of the reviewers and editors, it is formally accepted for publication.
- Copyediting: The manuscript undergoes copyediting to ensure clarity, consistency, and adherence to the journal’s style guide. Authors may be contacted during this stage to clarify any issues or approve changes.
- Proofreading: Authors receive a proof of their manuscript to review and approve before publication. This is the final opportunity to make any corrections.
- Publication
- Online Publication: After the final proofs are approved, the manuscript is published online as part of the journal’s current issue or as an ahead-of-print article. All articles are published under an open access model, making them immediately available to the global research community.
- DOI Assignment: Each published article is assigned a unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI) to ensure permanent accessibility and ease of citation.
- Post-Publication
- Post-Publication Corrections: If any errors are discovered after publication, authors should notify the editorial office. Corrections or retractions will be issued in accordance with COPE guidelines.
- Dissemination and Promotion: The journal promotes published articles through various channels, including social media, newsletters, and academic networks, to maximize their visibility and impact.
