Welcome to the Department of Early Childhood and Childhood Education (ECCE). As a faculty we are committed to preparing competent, qualified, and caring teachers for diverse urban settings. ECCE programs prepare students for initial/professional New York State certification to teach children at the early childhood (birth to grade 2) and childhood (grades 1-6) levels and offers bilingual extensions for those who wish to work in multilingual settings and for NYS certified teachers seeking a bilingual extension in Birth to Grade 6.

The Conference on Play is a professional learning event hosted by the Lehman College Department of Early Childhood and Childhood Education that explores the role of play in teaching and learning. The conference features sessions focused on art, digital learning, science, math, outdoor education, and multilingual learning, bringing together educators, teacher assistants, aides, and directors to share engaging and innovative practices for young learners.
