Earning Your Undergraduate Degree


An Undergraduate Bachelor’s Degree at Lehman College consists of 120 credits.  

The goal is to provide a broad Liberal Arts Education that combines courses in science, culture, and society with more in-depth study of a specific area of interest. Students come away with a sense of social responsibility, strong intellectual and practical skills that span several major fields of study, and analytical and problem-solving skills they can apply in real-world settings.


Your General Education course work falls into three categories:

The Pathways Program Contains 14 Courses in Three Categories:

Required Core
(4 Courses, 12-15 Credits)


Required Courses include:

English Composition (2 Courses, 6 credits)

Mathematical and Quantitative Reasoning (3-5 Credits)

Lab Science: Life and Physical Science (3-4 Credits)

Students may substitute STEM variants for the mathematics and science courses.

Flexible Core
(6 Courses, 18-20 Credits)


Every student must successfully complete one course from each of the following five areas, and a sixth course from any of the areas:

Area I: World Cultures and Global Issues

Area II: U.S. Experience in Its Diversity

Area III: Creative Expression

Area IV: Individual and Society

Area V: Scientific World

College Option
(4 Courses, 12 Credits)


Students must complete two LEH courses. LEH courses have variable topics. Each semester, a series of topics for these courses is announced in the Schedule of Classes.

LEH

Foreign Language (2 Courses, 6 Credits).
