Featuring The Héctor Lavoe Band Starring Raul Carbonell
Lehman Center For Performing Arts is proud to present LAVOE EN SINFÓNICA. An incredible show that reunites award-winning actor and vocalist Raúl Carbonell, with his legendary, career-defining portrayal of salsa icon Héctor Lavoe,in the iconic musical ¿Quién Mató a Héctor Lavoe? That landmark production became a cultural phenomenon, hailed by critics and audiences alike.
Carbonell performed 88 shows of ¿Quién Mató a Héctor Lavoe? in New York City from 1999 to 2000. All ending in standing ovations and leading him to win the ACE award for best leading actor. In 2006, Carbonell performed in and directed the production in Puerto Rico, followed by a successful Miami run in 2007. Most recently, in 2023, he once again reprised the role—also serving as director—at the Centro de Bellas Artes de Santurce, reaffirming his deep artistic connection to Lavoe’s legacy.
Now, in this special theatrical concert event, Carbonell brings Lavoe’s music and story to life once more - backed by the legendary Hector Lavoe Orchestra and accompanied by the beautiful musical sounds of a Symphonic Ensemble. Come see and hear Lavoe’s journey from Ponce, Puerto Rico to the vibrant dancehalls of New York City. A journey that unfolds timeless anthems that define salsa music till this day.
This one-night-only event elevates Lavoe’s timeless repertoire through orchestral arrangements, performed alongside the authentic sound of the legendary Héctor Lavoe Band and Symphony. Audiences will relive classics like “Mi Gente,” “Periódico de Ayer,” “El Todopoderoso,” and many more.
