Eileen Markey, associate professor of journalism, guested on WNYC’s Brian Lehrer Show to discuss the importance of local news outlets and the impact their disappearance has on the communities they serve.
The interview was occasioned by the recent closure of The Norwood News, a longtime resource for news and information about the northwest Bronx, where Markey lives. More than simply her local paper, as a young journalist it was where she got her start.
