Sean Stein Smith Recognized as a 2026 Leader in Finance

Associate Professor Sean Stein Smith, Lehman’s resident fintech expert, has been recognized by NJBIZ with a 2026 Leaders in Finance Award in the blockchain category, for his ongoing work advancing education, research, and practical applications for blockchain technology within accounting and financial services.
“I am honored to be recognized by NJBIZ,” he said. “Receiving this recognition is particularly meaningful because it reflects not only my own work, but also the broader progress being made across the New Jersey/New York finance, technology, and academic communities as blockchain and digital assets continue to mature.”
“These technologies are forcing conversations about governance, transparency, verification, and how value moves through the global economy,” he added. “Helping students and professionals understand these changes, and preparing them to engage with them responsibly, has become a central focus of my work.”
Honorees will be formally recognized at an in-person ceremony on April 28, where leaders from across the state’s financial sector will gather to celebrate the achievements of this year’s class.
