The story of S.E.E.K. is still being written. And your success is the next chapter.
The S.E.E.K. Program at Lehman College offers up to five years of academic support and supplemental financial assistance for eligible New York State residents who do not meet traditional admissions criteria but show strong potential to succeed in college.
SEEK admits only incoming first year students or qualified transfers from CD-College Discovery, SEEK, EOP-Educational Opportunity Program or HEOP-Higher Education Opportunity Program. See link for Transfer Students.
To Qualify for S.E.E.K.
You Must:
✔ Meet Academic Guidelines:
Must be academically ineligible for general admission to Lehman College.
✔ Meet Economic Eligibility:
Must meet New York State Opportunity Program income guidelines (based on family size and income). View NYS Income Guidelines.
✔ All students are required to file FAFSA and add Lehman College to their FAFSA application:
If they are unable to file due to immigration status, then they are required to apply for the Senator José Peralta New York State DREAM Act.
✔ Complete the S.E.E.K. Summer Bridge Program:
This is a mandatory pre-college experience for first-time first year students.
✔ Be a New York State Resident.
Note: Students who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents may be eligible to receive state aid by completing the New York State DREAM Act (Peralta Scholarship)
Economic Eligibility Documentation
Depending on your circumstances, the following documentation may be requested:
Tip: Submit all required documents by March 15th for early decision by April 5th. Admission is first-come, first-served, and seats fill quickly.
✔ Student’s Birth Certificate
✔ Parent’s Proof of Income (one or more of the following):
✔ 1040 U.S. Tax Return (signed, second page)
✔ IRS Tax Transcript (no signature required)
✔ IRS Non-Filing Letter (if your parent does not file taxes) with the following supporting documents:
✔ SNAP or Public Assistance Statement
✔ SSI/SSD Benefits Letter
✔ Notarized Child Support Letter or Court Documentation
✔ Unemployment Benefit Letter
✔ Other source of Income received
