Dr. Rossen Petkov is an Associate Professor in Accounting at Lehman College, City University of New York (CUNY). He holds a Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of National and World Economy (Sofia, Bulgaria), M.P.A. from the University of Texas at Austin (Austin, TX) and B.A. in Economics and Statistics from the University of Rochester (Rochester, NY). Dr. Petkov is also licensed as a C.P.A. in New York State and also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He also holds a CFE designation from the ACFE. Dr. Petkov’s research interests focus on accounting for internally generated intangible assets, prehistoric accounting, fraud, and tax. He has widely published in many peer-reviewed journals, including Accountancy Business and the Public Interest, International Journal of Digital Accounting Research, Journal of Theoretical Accounting Research, Journal of Emerging Technologies in Accounting, Journal of Forensic & Investigative Accounting, and Rutgers Business Review. He also serves as a reviewer to multiple peer-reviewed journals. Prior to joining Lehman faculty, Dr. Petkov worked as a senior auditor at KPMG where he was involved in quarter, year-end audits, and SOX engagements for major U.S. and foreign, public, and private companies. His main areas of practical expertise are in oil and gas, service manufacturing and retail. Publications
