Lehman College welcomes undergraduate students to apply as either visiting students or non-degree students.

What is the difference?

Visiting students are currently matriculated at another college and are not enrolled in a degree program at Lehman College. They may take courses at Lehman College and transfer the credits back to their home institution.

Non-degree students are not currently matriculated at a college and wish to take courses at Lehman College to fulfill prerequisites or introductory course requirements for another program, or to gain specific skills in their field without pursuing a full degree program.

Application Dates

The Undergraduate Non-Degree/Visiting Application is available during the following periods:

  • Summer and Fall: Application opens March 1 and closes two days before the end of late registration.
  • Winter and Spring: Application opens October 1 and closes two days before the end of late registration.

To access the Undergraduate Non-Degree/Visiting Application, please visit CUNYfirst and follow the instructions to apply. You will be able to upload a copy of your most recent transcript for review as part of the application process.

Admission requirements for non-degree and visiting students are the same as those for degree-seeking students. Course registration is subject to space availability.

Non-degree and visiting students are charged non-degree tuition and fees.

For additional information, contact the Office of Admissions at undergraduate.nondegree@lehman.cuny.edu.

Students who previously attended Lehman College in a non-degree status and now wish to pursue a degree program must file a Transfer Application and submit official transcript(s) from all college(s)/institution(s) attended.

Students currently pursuing a degree at another CUNY college who wish to take a credit bearing course at Lehman are exempt from the application processing fee. They must submit an e-permit via CUNYfirst account. Tuition for courses taken at Lehman is paid at the student's primary college after the student has registered at both institutions. Detailed information about filing a CUNY e-permit is available here.

Through Lehman College’s Encore Program, New York State residents 60 years and older as of the first day of classes are permitted to enroll as auditors in Lehman College undergraduate courses on a space-available basis, tuition-free.
