Institutes and Centers

The School of Education is home to three nationally renowned centers and institutes. Through their work throughout The Bronx and the surrounding communities, there are children, youth, parents, teachers and schools engaged in learning together in a variety of ways and in a wide range of contexts. The School of Education is proud of the association of these centers and institutes as examples of Excellence in Action.

The Bronx Institute serves to foster and promote equity and excellence in the education and learning of Bronx students in K-20, by involving administrators, teachers, parents and students in high quality programs that support and enhance educational opportunities.

The Institute for Literacy Studies advances the work of their programs by providing direct and professional-development services for learners of all ages and equips them with intellectual and practical resources that move their educational, occupational and civic aspirations forward.

The Lehman Center for School and College Collaboratives designs programs collaboratively to benefit whole schools, including students, teachers, guidance counselors, paraprofessionals, teacher's aides and administrators.
