Technology-Enabled

Online tools facilitate communication and collaboration between students and faculty from different cultures and locations. Collaborative work can be done synchronously or asynchronously.

Structured Phases

A typical COIL experience may involve phases like:

  • Icebreaker: Students get to know each other and build trust.

  • Organization: Students share perspectives and form international teams.

  • Collaboration: Students work on their joint project.

  • Reflection: Students present their outcomes and reflect on their learning.
