Tammy Lee Christensen, doctoral lecturer and internship coordinator in the Department of Health, Equity, Administration, & Technology (HEAT), is the new co-program director of the American Public Health Association (APHA) Asian & Pacific Islander Caucus (APIC) for a two-year term through 2027.

“Serving as APIC's newly elected co-program director is an honor,” said Christensen. “This position allows me to contribute at a national level by uplifting underrepresented voices and strengthening pathways for future leaders.”

During her term, Christensen will develop programs reflecting community diversity, raise visibility for Asian & Pacific Islander issues and collaborate with underserved groups to strengthen collective impact.

Christensen said the role holds personal meaning and allows her to connect her professional work with the communities she cares about most, adding, “It gives me the opportunity to serve Asian & Pacific Islander communities while collaborating with Black, Hispanic, Native American, and other communities I value deeply.”
