Program Objectives and Activities

Lehman College's Bronx SciFest initiative is a collaboration between the School of Natural and Social Sciences, the Department of Biological Sciences, and the College Now Program. The focus is to develop scientific inquiry among Bronx high school students. Participating students have a strong interest in scientific research and they can work either individually or in team projects.

This initiative provides an awareness and exposure to areas in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), as well as experience doing research in our state-of-the-art labs alongside Lehman College faculty. Students develop a research project and compete in the fair, where projects will be showcased in the Science Hall, followed by the awards ceremony in the Lovinger Theatre.

Students are assigned a high school science teacher who provides supplemental guidance with research. In turn, these lead teachers receive professional development sessions held on campus.
