IT Workshops for Students of Lehman College - Spring 2024

Are you ready to boost your skills and productivity with the latest technology tools? Do you want to learn how to use Microsoft 365, Zoom, and more? If yes, then join us for the IT workshops for students of Lehman College, offered by the Division of Information Technology at Lehman College.

These workshops are designed to help you enhance your teaching, learning, and working experience with various IT applications and platforms. You will get hands-on training from our expert instructors, who will guide you through the features and functions of each tool. You will also get the opportunity to ask questions, share feedback, and network with your colleagues.

The instructor-led IT workshops are free and open to all students of Lehman College. However, registration is required for all sessions.

Alternatively, we offer two self-paced online learning platforms which offer thousands of courses and videos on various topics, such as business, technology, education, and more. You can learn at your own pace, anytime, anywhere, and on any device.

IT Workshops Schedule - Spring 2024

Office 365: Introduction to Microsoft Excel Essentials

Microsoft Excel allows you to enter, manipulate and display numbers and text in a spreadsheet - a grid composed of rows, columns, and cells. Participants will be introduced to the Excel user interface including the ribbon, menus, toolbars, and keyboard equivalents; cell, column, and row references; data entry and formatting; creating and copying simple formulas; setting up a spreadsheet for printing; creating charts; and data protection. The workshop will include hands-on exercises.



Office 365: Microsoft Excel Intermediate Level

In this workshop, participants with a basic knowledge of Excel will learn what is a pivot table, the advantages of using pivot tables, examples of pivot tables, manipulating and modifying source data, creating pivot charts, and collaborating with others using Excel. The workshop will include hands-on exercises.

Office 365: Microsoft OneDrive Business Basics

OneDrive is a file storage service in the cloud and is part of Microsoft 365. Explore advantages of using OneDrive and how to access files from anywhere and working with Microsoft Word online through any device.

Office 365: Using Microsoft PowerPoint with OneDrive

This workshop introduces the basic skills required to create and edit a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation. Participants will learn how to create a new presentation, change the font and color of presentation text, create, and modify bulleted slides, insert clip art, and apply design templates share and store documents in OneDrive.

Office 365: Microsoft Forms Essentials

Microsoft Forms lets you create surveys, polls, and quizzes quickly and easily. Forms provide real-time results and built-in analytics. Explore how to use Microsoft forms to create a survey.



The Essentials of Microsoft, or Bing, CoPilot

Bing CoPilot, or Microsoft CoPilot, is a revolutionary Generative AI service assistant. It is both a powerful, specialized search engine and a facilitator of new perspectives. CoPilot is available through your internet browser at coplilot.mircrosoft.com and users sign in with their CUNY credentials. Microsoft CoPilot facilitates brainstorming, learning, research, ideation and content creation. It is not just for writing papers. CoPilot is not integrated into the Microsoft 365 apps such as Teams. It is a standalone tool with many practical uses for education. This course introduces and develops the following:

  • What is Microsoft, or Bing, CoPilot
  • How to launch it
  • What are the features and capabilities
  • Tips for writing effective prompts
  • Validating the AI results with human knowledge to create unique content

An Overview of Zoom Essentials

Explore how Zoom unifies cloud video conferencing, online meetings, join, group messaging, breakout room and screen sharing into one, easy-to-use platform. Topics include signing into CUNY Zoom, Adjusting Zoom Settings, Testing the microphone/speakers, the Home Screen functions, Meetings (including scheduling, joining, starting and editing).



Office 365: Introduction to SharePoint Basics

SharePoint is a Microsoft web-based collaborative platform which integrates easily with Microsoft apps such as Teams, OneDrive, Outlook, Word, and son on. It is a powerful platform for sharing, organizing and communicating information. This training module covers how to sign into SharePoint from MS Office 365, navigating SharePoint user interface, searching, and editing your profile. Finding/following sites, posting news and using the Documents Library.

Introduction to Microsoft Office 365 XLOOKUP

The XLOOKUP function is a powerful search tool in Microsoft Office 365 Excel. It is the superior replacement of earlier versions of Excel search tools including VLOOKUP and HLOOKUP. XLOOKUP breaks the search barriers because it is able to search natively to the left and both vertically and horizontally. This course describes the following: what is XLOOKUP, organizing data for an effective search, what are the required search parameters, and detailed examples how to use this special function.

Office 365: Microsoft Outlook – the Desktop App vs. the Web Browser

Now you know how to create, send and respond to emails…Learn the advantages of using the desktop app and the web browser. Understand the integration of Teams and SharePoint with Outlook. Learn more about sharing calendars, returning sent emails and using drag/drop to create email attachments. Outlook has never been this much fascinating, easy and fun to learn!
