Academic Support Workshops

The SLC may offer review workshops for the courses listed below. Most of these courses are gateway courses. Workshops will be conducted one or two weeks prior to exams. Workshop facilitators will review lecture material, answer questions, and provide additional resources to supplement course content.

Students should prepare for each workshop by reading ahead, developing questions, and arriving with their textbooks. Please check Brightspace, your email, call or visit the SLC for more information (718-960-7707).

Students in any section taught by instructors participating in Peer-Led Team Learning may attend PLTL workshops. PLTL workshops target gateway nursing chemistry courses (listed below), which will be conducted once or twice each week and are course- and instructor-specific. However, students in other CHE sections are welcome to attend. PLTL workshops will begin a week after each academic semester begins at which time the SLC will be open for tutoring. PLTL workshops are usually offered during the week, either before or after the center is closed. Workshops can either be in-person, virtual or both.

Instructor‑provided resources and exam guidelines are also shared during these sessions prior to an upcoming exam.

Sessions may be held in person, virtually, or in a hybrid format.

Students are encouraged to regularly check their email for announcements. LCR workshop information may also be shared through the college’s Instagram and Facebook pages, and course instructors.

Students enrolled in the course sections listed above (except for BIO 183) are eligible to participate in our Lecture Exam Review (LER) workshops. Instructor‑provided resources and exam guidelines are also shared during these sessions.

While LERs are designed to be specific to each course and instructor, students from other sections may occasionally be invited to attend—particularly when multiple sections have exams scheduled during the same week (Monday–Friday).
