Marie-Gelaine Stevens

Marie-Gelaine Stevens (BS Nursing, Lehman College) is a first-generation Haitian American nurse, U.S. Army veteran, and community advocate whose career has been defined by service to others. Born in Brooklyn and raised in the Bronx, Stevens earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Lehman College before being directly commissioned into the U.S. Army as a nurse in 1992. After completing her training at Fort Sam Houston, she was stationed at Fort Meade, Maryland.

During her military service, Stevens was assigned to Fort Bragg in 1994 during Operation Uphold Democracy, a peacekeeping and nation-building mission in Haiti. Her military service reflects a longstanding commitment to caring for and supporting others.

After transitioning from military service, Stevens continued her nursing career in Maryland. She spent 14 years working at Upper Chesapeake Hospital before becoming the school nurse at Perryville Elementary School, where she has served for the past nine years. She also remains active in her community through the Conowingo Baptist Church choir.

Stevens' journey reflects the lasting impact of Lehman alumni who continue to serve and strengthen their communities.
