About Independent Study
Independent study allows students to explore topics outside of standard course offerings. Participation is by mutual agreement: a student must propose a project, and a faculty member must agree to act as the instructor/sponsor for that term.

Independent Study Application Process
Follow these steps to formalize your course enrollment:

Complete the online application (leave sponsor/adviser signatures blank).

Print the application from your browser's file menu.
3
Obtain your Faculty Sponsor's signature on the printed form.
4
Graduate students must also obtain the Graduate Adviser's signature.
5
Submit the final application to the Mathematics Department.
